Pinch of Yum
about.
I discovered Pinch of Yum, a popular food blog, while browsing for design inspiration. While the content was rich and inviting, the layout felt a little crowded. So, I challenged myself to reimagine it — not just as a UI exercise, but as a chance to bring more clarity, breathing room, and elegance to a beloved online space.
This passion project focuses on:
Decluttering the interface to highlight the content more effectively
Embracing a minimal, clean visual aesthetic
Experimenting with parallax scrolling for a more immersive experience
I was excited to complete the homepage and poured myself into every detail — from spacing and typography to scroll interaction. The final result feels calmer, lighter, and more editorial.
While only the homepage is complete for now, I’m collaborating with a friend to expand the redesign to the rest of the site. This project reminded me how much I enjoy designing around storytelling, especially when there’s room to simplify and elevate.
challenge.
One unexpected challenge was using images as core communicators of information. It sounds simple — but making sure imagery wasn’t just decorative, but actually helped tell the story of each post or section, took real intentionality.
Another challenge was designing a free-flow layout. Balancing that fluidity while still keeping structure and usability intact pushed me to think more critically about alignment, spacing, and rhythm.
result.
The redesigned homepage feels lighter, more intentional, and easier to navigate. It lets the content breathe and puts the food stories front and center. The parallax interactions add a subtle sense of movement without being distracting.
While only the homepage is complete for now, it sparked a lot of creative momentum.
